What to Expect During Your Visit

Smiledesign is all about customisation. And that’s why we take the time to understand your dental issues and create a solution that fits your facial features. Usually, this involves veneers, though we’ll also incorporate other teeth straightening or correction solutions wherever necessary.

FIRST VISIT

Impressions and pictures

During your first visit, we will take detailed impressions and pictures of your teeth.
This initial consultation focuses on discussing your smile goals and concerns.
We’ll create a treatment plan tailored to your specific dental needs, presenting various options for improving your smile.

SECOND VISIT

Preparation of teeth and mock-ups

We will present the initial smiledesign proposal using a meticulously crafted 3D model.
Once you approve the design, Dr. Ong will prepare your teeth for the new smile. This process typically does not require anaesthesia.
Temporary mock-ups will be applied to your teeth, allowing you to visualise and experience your potential new smile immediately.

THIRD VISIT

Fitting of dental veneers

Approximately 10-12 days later, your customised porcelain veneers will be ready for fitting.
During this visit, Dr. Ong will carefully remove the temporary mock-ups and fit the permanent veneers onto your teeth, contouring them as necessary.
You will be able to see and feel your new smile, crafted to enhance both aesthetics and functionality.

FINAL VISIT

Follow-up and fine-tuning

After the fitting, we recommend a follow-up appointment within one week to ensure your new smile is perfect.
Any necessary adjustments or fine-tuning will be made to ensure your comfort and satisfaction.

Meet our founder: Dr. Kevin Ong

Dr. Kevin Ong brings over 20 years of expertise in aesthetic dentistry to The Dentist @ Orchard. A graduate of the National University of Singapore (NUS) and with nearly a decade of international experience in London, Dr Ong is known for his work in smiledesign. His passion for transforming smiles has seen him work on numourous complex dental cases. He has treated over 1,000 patients and placed over 10,000 veneers to date and prides himself in making patients look and feel their best.

How long will veneers last?

20-30 years with proper maintenance.

When would you know it’s time to change your veneers?

As we age, our gums recede, to slow the process down, we should look after our gums and teeth by brushing well and going for regular dental cleanings. However, eventually you will see the margins between the original tooth and the porcelain. When it becomes too obvious, that will be when it is time to change your veneers!

How long is the treatment process?

2-3 weeks or 3-4 visits, depending on the patient’s and the clinic’s availability. The fastest treatment can be done in 1 week, especially for patients travelling to do their teeth. But this requires an express service fee.

I have sensitive teeth! Will veneers make my teeth more sensitive?

The placement of veneers should not cause tooth sensitivity. In many cases, our patients who initially had sensitive teeth told us that after placing the veneers, their teeth got less sensitive. If there is any sensitivity, do consult your dentist to adjust, sometimes it’s just a bite issue!

Can I place the veneers without trimming my teeth?

Some veneers can be done without trimming off the teeth, however, the material is not very strong and tends to be opaque and “fake looking”. At our clinic, we will require the teeth to be trimmed to place the veneers. This is to ensure a strong bond to the tooth, and also for an aesthetic result as the veneer can be flushed to the original tooth rather than being an additional layer.
